      Matak Batyr, who fought for independence during the Kazakh-Dzungarian wars of the eighteenth century , was born in 1750. According to folk legends, he was known for his fighting skills from a young age. He began his military career at the age of 17 in the battle of Yesil-Nur under the leadership of Bogenbai Batyr. In the same battle, he demonstrated his horsemanship, and swordsmanship skills-impaling his opponents with a spear while standing on a horseтүйреп, and chopping off their heads with a sword. Chokan Valikhanov was the first to explore this battle. He went there with an expedition.

      When Matak batyr turns19, he becomes mynbasy next to Abylai Khanna and replaces his father togalak. At that time, having united the country, Abylai Khan declared Karkaraly possession of the Irtysh-Balkhash-Bayanaul region. In 1769, Mata k was appointed his duanbas. He held this position for three years. As proof of this appointment, the hero «was awarded the seal "Al Sultan, Al Adil Mataq". It has been preserved to this day and is now kept in the Museum of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the capital.

      Matak 89 died at the age of 89, and the river at the site of his death was later named after Matak. The mausoleum is located along the Karaganda-Karagaily railway, near the village of Matak, Karkaraly district. This tomb is popularly іconsidered sacred. Local residents say that heavily moving train once overturned here. Since then, all drivers have significantly slowed down the speed to the Matak Batyr mausoleum by less than 200 meters. The Batyr mausoleum, was included in the Map of sacred objects of Kazakhstan, mirrors of the lpr instead of pilgrimage.
